a-to-z-letters-eI LOVE this word. Somehow just by saying it or even reading it, I can’t help but be happy. It’s like the dancing fountain and the trolley on the tracks at the Grove in Los Angeles (not to mention there’s one of the few remaining Barnes and Noble bookstores left there – heaven on earth). I dare you to head to the Grove and not be happy even if you’re in the world’s worst mood.

Well, that’s the way I feel about the word effervescent. All bubbly and tingly. It reminds me of so many things – that scene in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the original with Gene Wilder, not that tripping on acid Johnny Depp version), where Charlie and Grandpa Jo drink the fizzy lifting drinks and start floating around a million bubbles until they finally burp and come down to earth.

It also reminds me of the song ‘The Rhythm of Life” from Sweet Charity, which I clearly must adore because I wrote about that song on my bunion surgery blog sometime back.

Doesn’t it make you feel effervescent???

However, much as I adore this word and all its connotations, there’s a sneaking suspicion in the back of my mind that my love for it comes from a commercial in Australia for Schweppes Lemonade. They’d twist of the cap and talk about Schewppervescense!

See? Don’t all those Schweppervescense bubbles make you happy?

P.S. All you A-Z challenge bloggers who wrote about the death of Roger Ebert as your “E” challenge, fess up. I want to read what you had to say. Point me in your direction, please!
